With her multimedia work, Salome Asega negotiates ideas of Afro-identities, Transnationality and Movement. Yared Zelenke's film shows the story of Ye'absira, or Allula, a five year old who came close to being an orphan in one of the slums of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Coatlicue Theatre Company, 03/06/2010
Water is My Blood, Written, performed and directed by Hortencia and Elvira Colorado.
Two native woman, the well-known Colorado Sisters, will perform a work on the sacredness of water. It is presented by the Coatlicue Theatre Company the women founded 21 years ago to create original works addressing social, political, cultural, and identity issues, and conducting story-telling/theatre workshops and performances throughout the Americas.

The FiveMyles Open-Door dance program, under the direction of Chana Adams, takes place several times a week for neighborhood kids during the summer vacation.

During July artist-in-residence Matt Freedman works with local high school kids on the drawing, painting and construction of Utopias, the resulting artworks to be exhibited in the gallery during August.

There Goes the Neighborhood, Sound Installation, 6/21 – 7/15
Shawn Lane and Michael Britto have interviewed neighbors from this Crown Heights community, to talk about the changes taking place everyone's life because of the rapid real estate development in the area. These interviews are collaged with sounds from the neighborhood and will become a sound installation in the gallery throughout the summer. With photographs of the neighborhood by Michael Britto and a video by Julia O’Farrow of the co-ops and condominiums appearing seemingly overnight in the neighborhood.
